Blades of Glory: Pakistan’s 2024–25 National Figure Skating Championship

The National Ice Sports Championship 2024–25 in Pakistan — held at Naltar Valley in Gilgit‑Baltistan — featured a full slate of winter‑sport competitions, including men’s and women’s figure skating. Participating teams came from across the country: provinces and regions such as Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit‑Baltistan, as well as institutional teams like Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts (GB Scouts).

Results & Highlights

  • In the figure skating competition, Sindh took gold in the women’s category.
  • For the men’s figure skating, GB Scouts claimed the top spot.
  • Overall, the championship saw GB (Gilgit‑Baltistan) dominate the medal tally: they secured 12 medals in total across all events (3 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze).

The inclusion of figure skating in the National Ice Sports Championship signals a growing commitment in Pakistan toward developing winter sports beyond just skiing or ice‑hockey. Hosting the event in Naltar Valley — a high‑altitude, scenic winter‑sport friendly location — helps highlight Pakistan’s natural potential for ice‑sports.
