In the winter of 2024–25, the National Ice Sports Championship — including the men’s and women’s ice hockey competition — was held in Naltar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, transforming glacial slopes and frozen rinks into a national arena for winter-sport talent.
- The Championship saw participation of 12 teams from across Pakistan — seven men’s teams and five women’s teams from provinces and institutions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), and others.
- Competitions included ice hockey, alongside other winter-sport disciplines like ice skating, curling, figure skating, relay races, and speed skating.
Results & Highlights
- The men’s ice-hockey title was won by Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts (GB Scouts), while the women’s championship was claimed by Gilgit-Baltistan Winter Sports Association (GBWSA) — reflecting strong performance from the local teams.
- Over the entire Championship, GB-teams dominated the medal tally, bringing home 12 medals in total (3 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze) across various events.
- The event concluded with a closing ceremony in Naltar, followed by a broader winter-fest in nearby Hunza — a celebration mixing competitive spirit, culture, and tourism.
