Pakistan’s Ski Star Muhammad Shabbir Secures Prestigious IOC Scholarship

Pakistan’s Cross-Country Skier Muhammad Shabbir Awarded Olympic Scholarship by International Olympic Committee

In December 2023, the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) announced that Muhammad Shabbir was awarded a scholarship under the Olympic Solidarity Programme, organized by the International Olympic Committee.

The scholarship acknowledges Shabbir’s talent and commitment, giving him vital financial support to train at an international level. For a nation like Pakistan — where winter sports receive far less attention and resources — this support can make a significant difference in an athlete’s preparation and competitiveness on the global stage.

Shabbir’s journey may also inspire more young Pakistani athletes to take up winter sports, helping broaden the country’s presence beyond traditional games.
